Drive-by Desserting!

What an awesome week! My sister gave birth to a pretty awesome little man, Julian Zachary. I heart that little boy so much!!

And if that wasn't amazing enough (actually it is - the rest is just icing,) we're opening our weekly "store" at the Melrose Place Farmers Market this Sunday - February 6, 2011! The Melrose Place FM is located on La Cienega and Melrose Place (near the Beverly Center.)

Our booth will be open during the farmers' market hours - 10am-2pm, but we're offering, "Drive-by Desserting" for our loves!

How does it work?

-Tweet or email your order and we'll respond back to confirm and give you a contact number to call when you are near by.
- We'll give you the designated spot to meet near the Farmers Market and huzzah! Drive-by Desserting!
-All we ask is a 1/2 hour heads up and you're good to go.

Or you can just park and come by our booth and chat it up with us! :)

We're still taking online orders for delivery in LA and OC counties, so check out our Google Checkout widget on our blog or on our website! You can also place an order for pick-up at the Melrose Place FM. Just send us an email (cremecaramella@gmail.com) and we'll give you the deets!

What do you sell?

Crème Caramel and Bread Pudding in a lovely array of flavors.

What is Crème Caramel?

We defer to Wikipedia bread for this answer: "Crème caramel, flan, or caramel custard is a custard dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top, as opposed to crème brûlée, which is custard with a hard caramel top."

We would like to add that it is crazy delicious.

What is Bread Pudding?

We look to Joyofbaking.com for this answer: "Bread Pudding is an old fashioned dessert that had its humble beginnings in 13th century England. It was first known as a "poor man's pudding" as it was made from stale leftover bread that was simply moistened in water, to which a little sugar, spices and other ingredients were added."

They forgot to add that it is crazy delicious. Our version is served hot at our "store" or you can take it home cold with our instructions on how to reheat. We ship our bread pudding cold too. Check out the delivery info below.

What flavors are you offering of these amazing treats?

For online orders, you can choose from the following crème caramel flavors: Original, Chocolate, or Cafe. Our bread pudding flavors available for online orders are: Original, Chocolate, and Caramelized Bacon.

A little birdy told me that if you follow us on Twitter, you may get hints about a secret menu that may be offered at our Melrose Place Farmer's Market booth! (It wasn't until later that we realized that we just met a talking bird.)

DID YOU SAY BACON?

Yes! We heart bacon as much as we heart donuts. And that's saying a lot. Our Caramelized Bacon treat has been featured in several lovely food blogs and was a highlight of our company's launch at the Artisanal LA Holiday Pop-Up in December!

Where can I get these treats?!! (Sorry, our use of double exclamation points emphasizes that we would like to know asap.)

We are now accepting online orders (with 48 hour notice - Please see delivery exceptions below.) for crème caramel and bread pudding deliveries in the Los Angeles and Orange County area! We're still working on getting the treats to you via jetpack, but our in-house inventor is behind schedule.

We also have a weekly "store" at the Melrose Place Farmers Market on Sundays in West Hollywood - 10am-2pm and starting April 23rd, we'll be at the Americana in Glendale for Gigi's Farmers' Market 10am-2pm! We offer a Drive-By Desserting service at the Farmers Market. Send us your order via email at cremecaramella@gmail.com or tweet us on Twitter (@CremeCaramelLA) 1/2 hour before you want to pick-up your treats, get our confirmation, and we'll walk your order to your car!

I live in Finksberg, MD. Can I place an order for desserts?

You sure can! But we can only ship bread pudding and to addresses in the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska, of course.) Our crème caramel is extremely delicate and will not stand up to the harsh conditions of cross-country shipping. Our bread pudding is shipped cold overnight and you will be given instructions on how to prepare and serve. :) Email us at cremecaramella@gmail.com and we will give you shipping estimates based on your location.

How long can I keep the crème caramel and bread pudding on ice?

Crème Caramel will be lovely in the fridge for 5 days. Bread Pudding will be great in the fridge for 5 days too, but you can also keep the product frozen for up to a month! **Caramelized Bacon Caramel Bread Pudding should be placed in the fridge only for up to 5 days. Piggies get cold easily!

Help! How do I serve the Crème Caramel and Bread Pudding?

We're happy to help, you...err you!

Crème Caramel: Run a knife along the edge of the tin to separate the custard. Take care not to puncture the tin! Flip onto a plate and tap the bottom and sides gently until the custard places itself onto the plate.

Bread Pudding: (Directly from freezer or fridge) Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Unwrap plastic and leave dessert in tin and place on a cookie sheet. Heat for 15 minutes. Using mitts, remove tin from oven. It'll be hot! Use a large spoon to scoop out pudding. Drizzle sauce topping and enjoy!

We sure can! Send us an email and we'll give you the details on our party size options. (Although, we do LOVE seeing our little guys arranged on a plate.)

Delivery Exceptions:

We will ship out your desserts within 48 hours of when you place your order. For all cities in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, we are able to deliver all 7 days during the week before 5pm.

If you are outside these areas, please email us before you place your order and we'll give you a better picture of when you'll expect your delivery.
