This makes me want to vend in my backyard...

A little backstory to my giddy giggles today:

I've been working on starting Creme Caramel LA for over a year before we officially launched at Artisanal LA last month.  Part of my plan was to vend at a weekly farmers' market.  I had an idea of what the booth would look like and how we would vend.  After sending my ideas to the booth company, Promotional Design Group in El Monte, they sent back renderings and I was really impressed with their work and customer service.

Today they sent pictures of the booth fully assembled and I now want to open up shop in the backyard of my apartment building.  (Sorry, Creese - my landlord.)

WOOHOO!!  We have a "store"!  And we have a home!

We Reminisce...

...upon a wonderful winter weekend in December.  Yes, it was only last month, but we are already wistful. We were hoping by now to post news about our weekly location, so thank you for your patience as we "build"... slowly.  But even though delayed, we're finally getting closer to making moves!! :)  Thanks to all for your continued support and interest as we build

The man, SG, had taken these lovely pictures of our "storefront" at Artisanal LA's Holiday Pop-Up.  The booth, thanks to Gem Mateo, looked fantabulous!!

We hope to post a picture of us in our booth soon!!  :)  Hope you all stay warm.  (Obviously, I'm lame. It's 80 degrees today.)

Orders are going out... ideas are pouring in.

Baking in the kitchen again for 2011 orders.  Even as tired as we are after a long day at the day job, baking is kind of our zen moment when we can turn our brains off and becoming baking machines.  Pretty much like Terminator.  Bakinator.   (Mmmm, bacon.)

We officially placed our reservations at several lovely dining establishment during this year's weeks o' DineLA!  We hope to eat, err, do copious amounts of research on local Los Angeles desserts.  See?  Now it's official, Ms. CPA.  I'm doing Research & Development.

Speaking of ideas, as soon as we can lock down a weekly venue/spot/store/home/place to call our own for a few hours, we're going to be adding a special monthly flavor of creme caramel and bread pudding to our menu board.  We have some little ideas bouncing around in our heads and have been in the test kitchen making sure they aren't awful.  So, yay!  If that isn't a way to sell our product, then I didn't major in Marketing.  "Our Products Ain't Awful!"  Well, maybe back to the drawing board on that one.

Just a little hint of the things we're using to experiment on our flavor wheel:
Adam and Eve
Baaa
Casper

...and a pic of one of our BPs (Bread Pudding), the last one on the plate.

I wish you a lovely holiday weekend and to those of us still working on Monday, as the great Keanu Reeves said, "Vaya cone deeyos."

YAY! Thanks for the update kyledelacruz.com!

My dear brother/webguru, Kyle de la Cruz has updated our site and we are now taking online orders with 48 hour notice!!

Check it out!  cremecaramella.com

His day job is working the internets at WB, but his overall job is being awesome.

Stay tuned our lovely loves for more info and updates about our weekly "home" at a farmers' market in LA!

I'm making this post a little more self-indulgent and do another brag about our family.  (I promise that all other posts will be more relevant to Crème Caramel LA.  Mostly.  At least 95% of the time.)  My sister & BIL are adding a little nugget to our family, Baby J!  I can't wait to meet the little dude.  I've attached pics from his ultrasound in September and one taken this week.

Kristine :)

I'm going to post...

Updates a plenty will abound on our website shortly.  A little tardy, but with a little more info for you, our Creme Caramel LA loves.

We are going to start taking orders with 48 hour notice of our bread pudding and creme caramel for local Los Angeles and Orange county delivery!  YAY!  Our friends outside of these areas can place their orders for bread pudding only, since the creme caramel has proven to be a little temperamental when shipped outside of the SoCal borders.

So, what have we been doing since our official launch during Artisanal LA's Holiday Pop-Up?

Holiday Orders!
We were locked in the kitchen baking and packing our holiday orders for the Christmas season and our little birds flew from the nest to homes all over Southern California.  Holiday Spice Bread Pudding and Egg Nog Creme Caramel made their debut and were received by eager bellies.  But alas, the new treats are retired until 2011's holiday season.  We hope you had the opportunity to try them while they were around!

Maryland!
We went to Maryland to visit Sean's (my expediter and big guy) family and baked a few orders for our East Coast friends.  Caramelized Bacon, Holiday Spice, and Pumpkin Bread Pudding made the kitchen very fragrant and thinking about it makes our tummies grumble.  Hmm, I thought I had an extra tin of bread pudding in the freezer... sorry, I will focus.  We did a little test kitchen of a new flavor of Creme Caramel.  Liked the taste, but still working on the texture.  More on that soon.

Farmers' Market!  (Hopefully our new "home"?)
We visited 3 farmers's markets and hoping that we'll find a weekly home in the next few weeks.  Thank you to all for your support and inquiries.  We're hoping we get to see you on a weekly basis in the next month!!

Online Orders!
Until the website is updated, please access our store via our blog.  Not really sexy, but it does the job.  Do you have a large order or special request?  Email us at cremecaramella@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do to make you happy.

And me?  I'm Kristine and I make the bread pudding and creme caramel.  You?  You're awesome.  Thanks for reading.
